Matt Poirot_PhotoMatt currently serves as Assistant Director of Forest Management for the Water Resources Program with the Virginia Department of Forestry in Charlottesville, Virginia and is responsible for the oversight of the Department’s Water Resources Program as it relates to Silvicultural Operations.  Matt has served in this role since 1999. The Water Resources Program consists of harvesting inspections, harvest planning assistance to industry and landowners, water quality research, and enforcement of the silvicultural water quality law.  Matt also provides oversight for the DOF’s participation in the Chesapeake Bay Cleanup initiative as well as provides guidance and oversight for water quality related forest research.
